ITINERARY

Join this tour by catching the morning train to Kalabaka (the one that arrives at 12:03 to Kalabaka’s train station). After the scenic train ride through the beautiful Greek countryside, you will arrive at 12:03 to Kalabaka’s train station, where our tour guide will be waiting for you holding a signboard with your name. You will board in a comfortable Limo VIP minibus in order to begin an unforgettable tour in Meteora.

During this guided tour you will have the opportunity to see all six magnificent monasteries and admire the interior of three of them. Additionally, you will view some of Meteora’s most spectacular hidden gems like the ancient Chapel of Doupiani and the magnificent St. George “Mandilas” cave.

You will also discover the “other side” of Meteora, like the truth about why the hermits settled in these imposing caves a thousand years ago and how the monks achieved the “impossible”. Last but not least, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views and capture some amazing photos that you will cherish forever.

At around 16:45 we will transfer you back to Kalabaka’s train station. The train back to your base departs at 18:22 so you will have approximately an hour and a half of free time in order for you to explore (on foot) the nearby center of Kalabaka, visit one of the many cafes or restaurants and relax.

USEFUL INFORMATION

• We suggest that you bring with you appropriate clothing/footwear, your camera or smartphone and cash for the monasteries entrance fees.
• The monasteries of Meteora impose a strict dress code. Men must wear long trousers. Women must wear long skirts and cover their shoulders.
• Effective Until May 14: The train operator has temporarily changed the Athens to Meteora train schedule. It now departs at 8:28 AM with arrival at 1:11 PM. The return trip is at 4:45 PM with arrival at 9:26 PM. Visit 2 monasteries instead of 3 (everything else remains the same).
