*You will have the option to camp-out, our Camp Out experience is a completely private experience, and is subject to availability.
Another unique experience is offered at Kaingo is the Star Bed up by the elephant hide. The elephant hide is situated high up in the boughs of a tree by the riverbank. Your bed is placed on a platform that will be situated above the treetops to prevent you from mosquito bites, and a ranger will be with you to look out for our big cats.
*Extra charge applies, and prior reservation is highly recommended.
Kaingo's chalets have their own patios with a day bed and seating areas. You will have your own private deck overhanging the banks of the Luangwa River settle and enjoy the offering great views of the animals by the river.
Your afternoon walks will start and at night your evening game drive. Dinner will be back at the camp.
Day 2
Start your journey after your breakfast to the Hippo Hide it is located on a deep corner at the confluence of the Luangwa and Mwamba rivers and is only exclusive to guests staying in Kaingo Camp. Here start your day witnessing hundreds of hippos congregate throughout the season in both bachelor and breeding ponds. The hippo hide is carved into the bank of the river directly above these pods and its inhabitants are hidden by a grass screen. Comfortable seating and cleverly designed camera props make this a photographer’s dream. Yawning and fighting wildlife pictures guaranteed!
Day 3
Wake up early, start your drive at dawn to the location, armed scouts from the camp will be assisting you as you cross the long beach to the river's edge. Carmines are most active at dawn, so make sure you are up early. Make sure to wear light shoes or waterproof shoes or pack a flip flop though you can go barefoot for this journey as you will be entering the water. Getting to the hide is one of the exciting parts of this activity. The Carmines are very used to hide their presence and carry on about their business as though you are not there. This hide provides fantastic photo opportunities of this spectacular bird and is a must for serious birders and novices in the world. Breakfast will be back at the camp. Enjoy the whole afternoon in the camp, relaxing and enjoying nature. Dinner will be back at the camp.
