TOUR ITINERARY

Day 1: Livingstone – Kafue National Park

Pick-up from your accommodation in Livingstone in the early morning and drive to Kafue National Park– one of the world’s largest national parks with some 22,400 km2. Lunch will be in the camp upon arrival. Then you will embark on a journey to southern gate of the park and drive on the border road up to Lake Ithezi Thezi, where we will explore the area on a game drive.  Camping at Hippo Bay Campsite on the shore of Lake Ithezi Thezi. Dinner will back at the camp. 

Day 2: Ithezi Thezi (Southern Kafue) – central Kafue 

Eat your breakfast and start your long game drive along the lakeshore, you will head north to the central area of the Kafue National Park on the ‘Spinal Road’ to our next campsite at Kasabushi Lodge. In here there will be more game drives and safari encounters.  You will set your camp next to the Kafue River at Kasabushi campsite. 

Day 3: Central Kafue 

We have the whole day to do game viewing after your breakfast in the area along the Shishamba River, a well-known habitat for lions. Kafue is also known for its wide range of antelope species and big herds of elephants. You can also book optional activities (will be at your expense) at the lodge (game walk, boat cruise); Camping next to the Kafue River at Kasabushi campsite. 

Days 4: Kafue National Park, Central part:

In the morning we pack up camp, eat up your breakfast, and head further north to your next stop at Mayukuyuku Camp. You will have 2 days to do game drives in this area.  Several small rivers cross this area. These leave a number of waterholes in the dry season for the animals to quench their thirst. Wild dogs, which roam large areas of the park, cheetah, and lion as well as the elusive leopard are among the inhabitants here. You will set up your camp on the banks of the Kafue River at Mayukuyuku Campsite. 

Day 5: Kafue National Park, Southern part: 

After packing up our camp and your breakfast you will head back to the southern part of Kafue National Park and set up your camp at Lake Ithezi Thezi at Hippo Bay Campsite or at Ngoma Gate. Camping 

Day 6: Livingstone 

Pack up the camp, after your breakfast, and head to Livingstone, drop off at your accommodation. Late lunch will be served upon your arrival in Livingstone.

Although we make every effort to adhere to schedules, itineraries, and activities, these are subject to change in light of changing local conditions (weather and roads) as well as availability.  You will be notified accordingly. Rates are subject to National Park increase by Zambia Wildlife Authorities.

LEVEL OF PARTICIPATION

Participation is required for setting up camp and packing the truck, clients are welcome to help with the kitchen chores. 

SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

We do cater to our vegetarians, however, please ensure we are notified prior to arrival.

CAMPSITES

Campsites are unfenced, all have flushing toilets and hot showers but no electricity (except solar lights)

Roads and tracks in Zambia can be rough and bumpy.

What you can expect during this experience: 

  • Guides required to regularly wash and sanitize their hands. 
  • Face masks are required for travelers and guides in public areas. 
  • Tour equipment is sanitized before and after usage.
  • Hand sanitizers are available to travelers and staff. 
  • High Traffic areas are regularly sanitized. 
  • Regular temperature checks are conducted for the staff, before and after the tour. 
  • Regular temperature check before the tour will be done for the travelers. 
  • Transportation vehicles regularly sanitized, before and after use. 
  • Social distancing will be enforced throughout the duration of the tour.
