TOUR ITINERARY 

Day 1 Arrival in Muchinga, Nachifuku Caves 

Nachikufu Cave contains a variable history of human civilization, within these caves contains San/Bushman rock paintings that date back 15,000 to 20,000 years and was discovered in the 1940s. This trip will take you in awe, as several paintings which are black rock paintings, geometric paintings, animals such as antelope and elephant, and naturalistic figures of humans holding weapons. A small display of artifacts found in the caves is displayed inside. These relics are an important part of our history, and this visit is worth it! Drive to Nkonzi Camp for the night. 

Day 2 Walking Safari/ Game Drive in South Luangwa National Park 

As you will be staying in Thornicoft Lodge you are just a step away from South Luangwa National Park, enjoy your breakfast, bask in the first ray of Africa’s sunrise for your lunch, and set off for your safari journey! Dinner will be back at the lodge. 

Walking Safari

Become one with nature as you walk through the origin of walking safaris, South Luangwa. What makes this one of kind is that you will experience nature in the right place and time. Safety will always come first, as you will encounter the animals at a safe distance with a well-trained guide.

Game Drive

You can head North, South, East, or West to the untouched wildlife habitats as you travel deep down in South Luangwa National Park. Witness Africa’s animals on their natural habitat, as your tour guide, introduce you to life in the savanna and the endless knowledge about African wildlife. As most rangers will say “Every tour, there will always be new learning from these animals.” Drive back or walk back to Thornicroft Lodge before the sunsets. Remember, you are a visitor and will be staying within the park — their home, please do not leave with your tents after sunset without a guide. 

Day 3 Kapishya Hot Springs/ Mutinondo Wilderness Camp 

NOTE: As these two accommodations are sought out places in Zambia, just in case one of them is not available we will book you on the other one. Just in case both of them are not available, we have other options you can choose from upon checking for availability. The rates for the accommodation could go a little bit higher depending on the season. 

Kapishya Hot Springs

Drive to Kapishya Hot Springs, and time to relax before your next adventure in the wild, you can pack your breakfast with your since this will be a long drive or you may wake up early and enjoy it. Kapishya Hot Springs is said to be the oasis to travelers in Zambia, as these natural springs are composed of 3 cold water springs that are heated and flowed back to the wilderness. Swim by the river or sit back and bask in Africa’s sun on their terrace as you embrace the beauty of nature right in front of you. 

Mutinondo Wilderness Camp

Embark on a journey to Mutinondo Wilderness Camp after your serene breakfast, the gem hidden in the untouched and peaceful part of Zambia. A scenic and breathtaking mountain view await you, a perfect place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city, and your everyday troubles. There are various activities that you can do, swimming in the crystal clear rivers, running or trekking (make sure you are accompanied by your guide), take in the beauty of the flora and fauna, or bird sightings. 

Day 5 Luangwa Valley

Known as the honey pot of Zambia, Luangwa Valley is the major home to the majority of the Big Five of Africa namely the lion, leopard, elephant, and the water buffalo. Two endemic sub-species also reside in the valley, the Thornicroft’s Giraffe and the Cookson’s Wildebeest. Hippos and crocodiles are seen in the valley, and thus makes Luangwa as the densest wildlife location in Africa. Your accommodation will be at the Luangwa River Camp, breakfast included. 

Day 6 Hiking and Biking Trails in Chambeshi River 

Chambeshi River is considered the most remote headstream of the Congo River after your breakfast in the morning. Ride or hike through the banks of Chambeshi River, as you end your trip with astonishing facts about this great river. After the tour, head back to Luangwa River Camp.
